Jacksonville Jaguars player Dante Fowler has been caught standing idly by as his girlfriend brawls with the mother of his child brawls, according to news reports.
Surveillance footage at a Florida apartment complex showed the 21-year-old acting as a referee between the pair as they argued outside an elevator on February 1.
But the defensive end then took a step back and appeared to gesture to the woman, in a grey T-shirt, by his side, who has been identified as his girlfriend byTMZ.

At his signal, she kicked off her flip flops and launched at the other woman who is believed to be the mother of Fowler's child.

Fowler has since apologized in a statement, saying he was 'embarrassed' by his actions.

'This video surfacing is a sad reminder that emotions got the best of all of us. I take 100 per cent responsibility for everything that happened.'
Fowler, who left after the brawl with his girlfriend, has been recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament last May.
The injury saw him spend the entire of last year's NFL season on the sidelines.
Fowler did not miss a game in three years at the University of Florida, and was touted as a candidate for Defensive Rookie of the Year.

He was expected to play a large part in a revamped Jaguars' hybrid defense as coach Gus Bradley entered his third season in Jacksonville.

He pledged to spend the whole off season working with trainers to build up his strength and return to NFL in 2016.
